Picnic blanket for SALON.
Buildings generate nearly 40% of annual global CO2 emissions. This picnic blanket is a symbolic solution to lessening architecture induced damages on our planet. It is the simplest, most minimal form of textile as architecture, and proof that we don’t need complex designs to create our own living spaces. Situated in the liminal space between textile and architecture, this blanket intends to minimize the footprint of architectural practices while maintaining a design lead approach to human necessities. Inspired by the flow of natural forms within the same space, it is a sustainably manufactured architectural layout for picnicking space. This collection is a collaboration between two Istanbul based studios; architecture practice Salon Alper Derinboğaz and design office Reflect Studio. The pieces in this collection balance on the threshold between architecture and textile.
